- OK. I think we should work together. I too work in an Escom shop (in case
- you haven't heard!). I'm producing what can be classed as a rather crap
- demo (by Amiga standards) that I plan to stick on an A1200. If possible,
- some I'd like to enlist the help of some decent demo coders to show off
- the Amiga in errmm... 2 megs. I've written a program which is designed
- for a hard drive-based A1200 which is basically a simple password system
- (experienced Amiga people can crack it in minutes, but I'm counting on
- the fact that they're as honest as the ones that read these newsgroups).
- It gives you the chance to run THE demo, or load up Workbench once the
- password is entered correctly (password prevents people mucking up the
- Workbench). Basically, Workbench will contain Personal Paint, Wordworth,
- etc along with any WB-runnable animations (I'd like to get something from
- Eric Schwarz -is he still with us ? If so, how do I contact him ?).
- Trouble is getting this to multiple Escom stores. My idea is to either
- order a limited number of A1200HDs, which is quite unlikely given the
- lack of co-operation I get from purchasing on these matters. Secondly,
- get the techie manager to install a 2.5" drive from a notebook. This
- means giving them some instructions. Now we could pull that bit off,
- Escom Technical must have a CDR machine somewhere because they send out
- CDs from time to time. I'm currently using my highly-cool Syquest
- EZ-drive to do the job (although I'll need to borrow a Squirrel in order
- to get it into our A1200 -can someone help out ? I live in Enfield, North
- London - E-Mail me!). Assuming we get it on CD-ROM, using PC2Am, and a
- Boeder serial cable (which all Escom stores carry), use the CD-ROM from
- the PeeCee to read an archived file, which can then be dearchived
- directly onto the hard drive of the A1200. All you need is a single
- floppy for each machine (for the relavent files for PC2Am) and it should
- be OK. If I could present this information to someone who will listen
- (which believe me is VERY difficult) we could manage it. Best of all it's
- cheap, and further more there are probably tonnes of Amiga peeps willing
- to help out. Mail me (at the address shown in my sig file) with your
- suggestions. I'm sick of Escom UK having the future of the Amiga in their
- hands, and blatantly messing it up. It's about time we did something.
